The Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) has been playing a crucial role in fostering of the entrepreneurship culture across the length and breadth of J&K. The Institute recognizes that youth is the fulcrum of our future- a veritable demographic dividend that we at JKEDI aspire to nurture. I strongly believe that following one's passion and choosing entrepreneurship as a career option is not for the faint of heart. We have seen entrepreneurial resilience, grit, and revolutionary solutions to some of the hardest problems of our society. It has not only been an inspiration for all of us, but also motivated us to push our limits, innovate, and think outside the box. Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute is also in the process of evolving and navigating through troubled waters. We as a whole need to rethink, redesign, recreate and direct our full energy in creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurs and startup’s of J&K. The overall situation in J&K has improved, and I believe that the Institute must also play its part. In a country where most people are under the age of 35, it is crucial to address the problems of the youth. The goal is to provide these young men and women with a dignified life and ample opportunities to reach their full potential. With our presence at the grassroots level across the UT, our role has never been more relevant and significant. The Institute has a rich intellectual pool of faculty and experts. The Institute maintains and constantly improves its distinctiveness as a premier multidisciplinary development Institution through cross-cutting approaches of awareness, training, consultancy and investment in entrepreneurship education and research. The Institute so far has trained more than 38,000 youth under different schemes and till date more than 14000 enterprises have been set up successfully across the length and breadth of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh. The Institute also implements the term Loan & Educational Loan Schemes of National Minorities Development Finance Corporation (NMDFC) under the auspices of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India. Besides, JKEDI has also been designated as the nodal agency for JK Startup policy 2018. The Start-up Policy-2018 rolled out in September 2018 envisions the creation of 500 new Start-ups in J&K in next 10 years, besides establishing Incubators, Fabrication and Innovation labs. The Policy also contemplates to set up Angel Networks, Entrepreneurship Development Cells, Sector/Actor Collaboration, Strong incentive Structure and other Academic Interventions. Our goal is to provide an environment where innovation and creativity will go hand in hand with each other. The Institute is always on the forefront to make all the dreams of our budding entrepreneurs come true and even ensure that those dreams are realized with an aim of overall socio-economic solidity of the region. |
